Gueuzerie Tilquin

This sophisticated Fruit Lambic showcases a masterful integration of spontaneously fermented lambic with 290 grams per liter of Pinot Gris grapes. The sensory profile is headlined by the grape’s signature white peach, apricot, and floral qualities, woven into a rustic tapestry of sharp lactic acidity and complex 'farmyard' funk. Bridging the gap between fine sparkling wine and traditional gueuze, the Pinot Gris contributes a delicate vinous tannin and subtle honeyed notes. Despite its elevated strength, the finish remains remarkably crisp and bone-dry, emphasizing the woody character of aged barrels and the vibrant, fermented essence of the fruit.

Appearance. Pours a slightly hazy, pale copper to golden-amber (7-9 SRM) with a thick, rocky, off-white mousse-like head that shows excellent retention and leaves fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity; dominant vinous notes of fermented Pinot Gris grapes featuring white peach, melon, and floral esters. These blend seamlessly with complex gueuze aromatics including hay, horse blanket, and aged oak. A sharp, citrus-like lactic sourness provides a bright, clean lift.

Taste. An assertive initial impression of clean lactic tartness is balanced by the delicate, fleshy fruit flavor of the grapes. The mid-palate reveals complex barnyard funk, earthy minerals, and old oak tannins. Bitterness is negligible, with structure provided by acidity and grape skin tannins. The finish is bone-dry and lingering, with a crisp, vinous aftertaste of white wine.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a sharp, puckering tartness that remains smooth rather than astringent. High, sparkling carbonation creates a lively mouthfeel. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth reflects the higher-than-average strength for the style.
