Gueuzerie Tilquin

This elegant Fruit Lambic showcases a vibrant marriage of second-use Syrah grapes and a blend of Meerts and aged lambic. The nose is dominated by vinous aromas of dark berries, cracked black pepper, and earthy barnyard funk characteristic of the Tilquin cellar. On the palate, the Syrah provides a delicate tannic structure and flavors of skins and pits, balanced by a sharp, refreshing lactic acidity. Despite its lighter Meerts base, the beer maintains a sophisticated depth, finishing bone-dry with a lingering essence of fermented fruit and old oak. It is a masterful display of subtle fruit integration and wild fermentation.

Appearance. Pours a hazy, deep pink to soft ruby color (SRM 10-15) with a fine, mousse-like head that displays a faint violet tint. Head retention is moderate, leaving light lacing as it recedes.

Aroma. High intensity of fermented Syrah grapes, offering notes of blackberry, plum, and a touch of black pepper. This is supported by a complex wild character featuring barnyard funk, wet hay, and aged oak. A clean, sharp lactic acidity underpins the fruity and earthy elements.

Taste. The initial impression is sharply tart and vinous. Prominent flavors of underripe dark berries and grape must transition into a woody, earthy middle. Bitterness is negligible. The finish is extremely dry and crisp, with lingering notes of grape skin tannins and a subtle, funky farmhouse aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, sparkling carbonation that provides a prickly, refreshing sensation. The acidity is puckering but well-integrated, accompanied by a very slight tannic astringency from the grape skins and oak.
