Malaphor is a striking Specialty IPA that masterfully balances modern hop intensity with a restrained, dark malt backbone. Vibrant aromas of stone fruit and pineapple from El Dorado lead the way, supported by the classic grapefruit and floral nuances of Cascade. Mosaic adds complexity with notes of ripe blueberry and a hint of resinous pine. On the palate, the hop-forward character remains dominant, while debittered roasted malts provide subtle layers of cocoa and toasted crust without any harsh astringency. It finishes dry and crisp, showcasing a firm bitterness that invites the next sip of this polished, dark ale.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to opaque black (35-40 SRM). Topped with a persistent, creamy tan head that leaves delicate lacing. Clarity is high, showing ruby highlights when held to the light.
Aroma. High intensity hop profile featuring bright tropical notes of pineapple and mango, alongside citrus zest and forest pine. A clean fermentation allows a very low, supportive malt aroma of dark chocolate and toasted bread to linger in the background.
