Heirloom presents a refined session-strength experience that punches well above its weight. Utilizing a specialized heritage variety of Imperial Barley from Gyrup Malt, this American IPA offers a distinctively rustic, grainy foundation that supports a vibrant hop duo. Intense aromas of Citra and Mosaic dominate the profile, bursting with notes of bright pink grapefruit, ripe mango, and a touch of piney resin. The palate is defined by the interplay between the heritage malt's subtle toasted cracker notes and a firm bitterness. Despite its lower alcohol content, the beer maintains a satisfying presence, finishing crisp and dry with a lingering tropical citrus punch.
Appearance. Medium gold with a slight, persistent haze. Features a medium-sized, bright white head with excellent lacing and moderate persistence.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, mango, and blueberry. A low, clean, grainy maltiness from the heritage barley provides a rustic backdrop. Fermentation profile is clean with no noticeable esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of citrus zest and tropical fruit. The heritage Imperial Barley provides a medium-low grainy and lightly toasted malt flavor. Bitterness is medium-high and clean, leading into a dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is hoppy with lingering resinous notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high and lively. No alcohol warmth is perceived, and there is no astringency.
