Flügge Sieke & Ole 2021 is a sophisticated Grape Ale hybrid that blurs the line between craft beer and viticulture. Incorporating orange wine from Weingut Daniel Mattern, the profile is defined by skin-contact white grape characteristics, offering evocative notes of dried apricot, tangerine zest, and a subtle herbal tea-like tannin. Fermented with a classic Saison yeast, the aromatic profile is further elevated by delicate cracked pepper phenols and ripe pear esters. An intentional mild acidity provides a bright, refreshing lift, cutting through the lean malt base to deliver an exceptionally dry, sparkling, and vinous finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (SRM 7-9) with brilliant clarity. The head is white, mousse-like, and shows moderate retention with fine lacing.
Aroma. High aromatic intensity featuring distinct orange wine notes of dried stone fruit and citrus peel. Complementary yeast esters of pear and apple mingle with a moderate spicy, peppery phenol character. Malt is low and crackery.
Taste. Leading with a mild tartness, the flavor profile transitions into rich white grape, apricot, and orange zest. The yeast provides a firm spicy counterpoint to the fruit. Bitterness is low, allowing the vinous acidity to provide balance. It finishes bone-dry and crisp.
