Dark Oats is a decadent Oatmeal Stout that balances intensity with a luxuriously smooth texture. It pours as dark as midnight, releasing rich aromas of Roasted Barley and sweet milk chocolate. The heavy addition of oats creates a remarkably thick, creamy body that coats the palate in a silky, almost oily embrace. At 6.8% ABV, this interpretation offers a gentle alcohol warmth that enhances the deep flavors of coffee-and-cream and toasted grains. The finish is plush and lingering, showcasing a masterfully integrated sweetness that supports the bold roasted character without becoming cloying, resulting in a soul-warming sensory experience.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It features a thick, persistent, tan-colored head with a dense, creamy texture and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a dominant character of roasted grains and milk chocolate. Moderate malty sweetness gives a coffee-and-cream impression, accompanied by low dark fruit esters and a subtle, grainy-nutty oatmeal scent. Hop aroma is nearly absent.
Taste. The initial impression is rich and sweet, lead by flavors of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. The oats provide a distinct toasty-nutty and grainy mid-palate. Bitterness is medium and well-balanced against the malt. The finish is medium-sweet and lingering with a clean, roasty aftertaste that avoids harshness.
Mouthfeel. Full body with a notably smooth, silky, and velvety texture from the heavy oatmeal addition. Carbonation is moderate. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the overall richness without being solventy.

Az Oatmeal Stout zabdara felhasználásával készített sör, amely a zab miatt még selymesebb, lágyabb, tejcsokoládés ízhatású lesz. Kávészerű pörkölt árpa- és malátaaromák is megjelennek a sörben. Ez az alacsony vagy közepes alkoholtartalmú stílus tele van sötétebb malátaízzel és a zablisztből származó gazdag és olajos testtel.

A Stout a porter szárazabb, sötétebb, testesebb erősebb leszármazottja. Színben nagyon hasonlóak, a stoutokban azonban sokkal több a karamellizált pörkölt maláta és a kávés ízvilág, valamint édeskésebbek is. A stout szó első ismert használata egy 1677-ben keltezett, az Egerton Manuscripts-ban talált dokumentumban, amely a sör erősségére utal. 1721-ben használták először a porter nevet egy pörkölt malátával készült sötétbarna sör leírására. A porterek hatalmas népszerűsége miatt a sörfőzők többféle erősségben készítették őket. Az erősebb, jellemzően 7 vagy 8 %-os alkoholtartalmú söröket "stout porter"-nek nevezték, így a stout és a porter története és fejlődése összefonódott.
