Equilibrium Brewery Even More Unbalanced (Batch 3)

This massive Double IPA showcases a collaborative intensity, delivering an intentionally saturated hop profile. The complex aromatic landscape is driven by a heavy-handed blend of Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Motueka, Sabro, and Amarillo, erupting with a concentrated essence of mango sorbet and ripe apricot. A distinct lime peel brightness from the Motueka and tropical weight from Galaxy balance the dense pineapple and stone fruit notes. Despite the significant 10% ABV, the signature juice-like character ensures a soft, saturated palate. It marries a fluffy, pillowy texture with a firm, structural bitterness that prevents the dense tropical fruit layers from becoming cloying, resulting in a vibrant, modern expression of the style.
Appearance. Intensely hazy and opaque with a glowing, deep tangerine color (8-10 SRM). Pours with a dense, creamy, off-white head that shows excellent persistence and leaves thick, localized lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with a penetrating blast of tropical fruit, specifically mango sorbet, crushed pineapple, and apricot. There is a secondary layer of citrus zest and lime peel, with a faint hint of coconut-like creaminess from the Sabro. Malt is tucked in the background, providing only a very low, neutral, grainy-sweet support.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of blended tropical fruit. Bold flavors of mango, passion fruit, and lime are dominant. The hop flavor is complex and multilayered, with a moderately high bitterness that is firm but not harsh, well-calibrated to offset the high ABV. Malt provides a soft, bready backbone without caramel interference. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, fluffy, and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, appropriate for the strength, without being hot or solventy. No significant hop-derived astringency.
