Kick Up the Fire is a classically structured American Amber Ale that presents a sophisticated interplay between sweet malt and pungent hops. Specifically, the addition of Citra, Centennial, and Simcoe hops contributes distinctive notes of pithy orange and resinous pine, which cut through the malt sweetness. Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-amber in color with brilliant clarity; topped by a moderately large, off-white head with good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring pithy orange and resinous pine from Citra, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. A supportive malt character follows, rich with notes of toasted caramel and sweet toffee. Esters are low to neutral.
Taste. Initial malty sweetness with prominent caramel and toffee flavors. This is balanced by a moderate to high hop bitterness and flavors of orange peel and pine resin. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering balance of toasty malt and hop oils; no roasted or burnt grain character is present.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. The finish is clean without astringency or significant alcohol warmth.
