This collaboration between Cloudwater and The Veil pushes the Double IPA style to its sensory limit, presenting as a dense, saturated liquid masterpiece. An immense hop bill featuring Centennial, Mosaic, Strata, Columbus, Galaxy, Enigma, Citra, Nelson, and El Dorado creates a complex profile dominated by ripe mango and vibrant, fresh orange juice. The aroma is powerfully tropical and citrus-forward, supported by a grounding pine resin from the Columbus and Centennial additions. Despite its 12% strength, the beer maintains focus on its intense hop character, finishing with a firm bitterness and a lingering, lush fruit essence that defines its modern, high-intensity profile.
Appearance. 6–10 SRM; Deep gold to light orange with a significant, persistent hazy glow. Moderate, creamy white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense, pungent hop aroma featuring heavy tropical notes of mango, passionfruit, and lychee. Bright citrus zest and fresh-squeezed orange juice are prominent, complemented by a low resinous pine undertone. Very low, clean bready malt; alcohol is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated.
Taste. Bold initial impression of saturated tropical fruit and stone fruit. Mid-palate reveals layers of orange citrus and a subtle berry character. High bitterness provides necessary structure against the high gravity, balanced by a soft, grainy malt backbone. The finish is long and resinous with a touch of pine, drying out effectively to maintain drinkability.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, coating texture. Carbonation is moderate. Significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy; no hop-derived astringency.
