Cloudburst Brewing Wet Hop Keller Pils
This collaborative Keller Pils captures the vibrant essence of the hop harvest. A base of Pilsner malts blended with Spelt creates a softened, rounded palate that elegantly supports a massive addition of wet and fresh kilned Tettnang hops. The resulting profile bursts with vivid lemon zest, fresh-cut grass, and a distinct cucumber peel snap. While it maintains the smooth, malty core of a Munich Helles, the wet hop influence adds a minerally, leafy depth that transitions into a refreshingly crisp, dry finish. It is a clean, bright celebration of harvest-time freshness and traditional noble hop character.
Appearance. Pale gold with a slight, hazy Keller-style character; features a persistent, creamy white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring prominent herbal and floral hop notes of fresh-cut grass and lemon zest; supported by a moderate grainy-sweet malt backdrop and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, grainy-sweet maltiness from the pilsner malts. The hop flavor is pronounced and exceptionally fresh, showing notes of cucumber peel, citrus, and leafy herbs. Bitterness is low to medium-low, providing enough support to balance the rounded mid-palate before transitioning into a minerally, dry finish.

Following in the tradition, we brought in a brilliant friend – Natalie Rose Baldwin of Wayfinder Beer – to elevate this lager collab beer to the next level. A blend of pilsner malts, plus a bag of spelt to soften up the base beer so that we could load it up with both wet AND fresh kilned Tettnang from Goschie Farms. We gave it 5 cold weeks – young for us – but when you’re working with wet hops, freshness is of the imperative essence! We get notes of lemon zest, fresh cut grass, & cucumber peel upon a rounded, leafy mid palate and minerally, crisp, dry finish.
