La Chimay Blue Cap, bautizada como “Grande Reserve” en botellas de 750 ml, es una cerveza trapense oscura con un potente aroma, cuyo complejo sabor mejora con los años. Fue elaborada por primera vez como cerveza de Navidad por los monjes de la Abadía de Scourmont en 1956.

Esta auténtica cerveza belga, cuyo matiz de levadura fresca se asocia a un ligero toque floral rosado, es particularmente agradable. Su aroma, percibido a medida que se disfruta, no hace sino acentuar las deliciosas sensaciones que revela el olor, todo ello con una ligera pero agradable nota caramelizada.

Lo ideal es servirlo a temperatura de bodega (10 a 12°C).

Brew Haus is not typically a classic beer importer, however over the years we have learnt that some great beers are just as craft as others, and we have warmed to the classic labels that don such traditional beers. Since Chimay brewery in Belgium only produces the highest quality brews, we have included them into our range. Grande Réserve was first launched in 1948 as a Christmas ale under the name “Blue Cap.” Its success and reputation as a strong ale of the highest quality led to it’s year-round production as Chimay Grande Réserve. Today it is the standard bearer of the Chimay range and has become notorious for its amazing cellaring ability. A beer cellar on the grounds of the abbey secures a vast selection of Chimay Blue bottles whose ages span a multitude of decades. The beer is remarkably dry for the style and the hint of sweetness is derived purely from the highest quality of malts. Flavours of dates, fig and pear are complimented by aromas of dark bread, with a touch of rose. As the beer ages it maintains its elegance while taking on flavours or sherry and tobacco.

Elke twee jaar wordt een verzamelfles Grande Réserve uitgebracht in een beperkte oplage.

Chimay, zijn bier, zijn kaas… en vooral ZIJN NATUUR!
Sinds kort zijn de bossen en het platteland van Chimay erkend als één van de weinige nationale parken van België.
Midden in deze ongerepte omgeving ligt de Abdij van Scourmont, waar de bieren van Chimay gebrouwen worden.
Het ontwerp van deze fles brengt hulde aan dit prachtig stukje natuur.

CHIMAY GRANDE RÉSERVE is een krachtig, donkerbruin bier met fruitige, chocolade-en kruidige aroma’s dat doorheen de jaren alleen maar beter wordt.

Onze geschiedenis startte in 1850 toen de pastoor van Virelles, de abt Jean-Baptiste Jourdin en de prins van Chimay, Joseph de Riquet de Caraman, een opdracht gaven aan een tiental monniken van Westvleteren: een klooster vestigen op het plateau van Scourmont om te doen wat de monniken tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds doen: “de regio rond CHIMAY helpen”.

Om deze taak te volbrengen, besloten de monniken om een bier te brouwen op basis van het water dat ze in overvloed konden halen uit de natuur van deze moerasachtige plateaus. Vervolgens maakten ze een nieuwe kaassoort…

Deze geschiedenis hebben we ook grotendeels te danken aan iedereen die een bijdrage heeft geleverd, of dit nog steeds doet, om de eeuwenoude kennis te behouden met respect voor de regels van Chimay.

Een florerende geschiedenis die al tientallen jaren is gebaseerd op sterke maatschappelijke en ecologische waarden, die nu meer dan ooit actueel zijn.
