Dazey is an assertive Double IPA that showcases an intense aromatic profile through its "flower power" hop selection. Loral CRYO leads the charge with high-intensity floral and herbal notes, while Centennial CRYO provides a sharp citrus and pine backbone. The inclusion of Sabro adds a layer of tropical complexity, offering distinct hints of coconut and stone fruit that meld into the lean malt profile. At 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, balancing its powerful hop-derived bitterness with a clean, dry finish. It is a modern strong ale that emphasizes hop vibrancy and aromatic depth over heavy malt sweetness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper in color (SRM 7-10). Displays good clarity with a slight, acceptable haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma characterized by bright lemon citrus, pine, and a prominent floral perfume. Secondary notes of coconut and tropical fruit are evident. Malt presence is low and neutral-grainy, providing a clean canvas for the hops. Fermentation is clean with a very light, smooth alcohol warmth.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of complex hop flavors, including citrus zest, dried flowers, and creamy tropical fruit. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, serving only to support the hops. Bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness. The finish is medium-dry to dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste. Alcohol is well-integrated and smooth.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A light, restrained alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
