This opulent Imperial Stout showcases a masterclass in barrel aging and adjunct integration. Matured for 22 months in Willett Rye barrels, it reveals a profound complexity driven by a massive infusion of vanilla beans from Tanzania, Peru, and East Timor. The sensory experience is a decadent tapestry of brownie batter and rich creme brulee, lifted by surprising notes of Luxardo cherry and bright orange citrus. Deep roasted malts provide a sturdy foundation of dark chocolate and espresso, while the spicy rye whiskey influence adds a sophisticated layer of oak and spirituous warmth to this viscous, velvety liquid.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Sparse, deep tan head with low retention; high viscosity and alcohol content result in prominent legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; rich and multifaceted layers of floral, woody, and earthy vanilla. Deep roasted malt character of bittersweet chocolate and espresso, complemented by spicy rye whiskey, charred oak, and subtle dark fruit esters of plum and cherry.
Taste. Intensely decadent initial impression with dominant flavors of brownie batter and burnt sugar creme brulee. The mid-palate introduces complex notes of Luxardo cherry and bright orange citrus. Significant Willett Rye barrel influence provides spicy oak tannins and spirituous depth, balanced by a firm roasted bitterness. The finish is long, sweet, and warming.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous; chewy and mouth-coating with a velvety, luscious texture. Low carbonation. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth is well-integrated without being harsh.
