Celestial Beerworks Leo is a vibrant Double IPA that captures the essence of a tropical orchard. Dominated by aggressive additions of Idaho 7 and El Dorado hops, the sensory profile opens with an intense, sugary aroma of pineapple candy and ripe stone fruit. The palate is a saturated exhibition of peach ring candies and sweet pear pastries, balanced by a soft malt backbone that remains clean and unobtrusive. True to its hazy nature, it offers a lush, fruit-cup-juice finish that lingers with bright tropicality. This 8% brew is bold and brazen, delivering a punchy hop intensity while maintaining a remarkably smooth, fruit-forward drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7-9 SRM). Opaque, hazy appearance with a thick, persistent white head that leaves dense lacing.
Aroma. Intense tropical fruit aroma. High notes of pineapple candy, ripe peach, and juicy pear from Idaho 7 and El Dorado. Very low, neutral malt graininess. Light fermentation esters reminiscent of fruit syrup. No solventy alcohol.
Taste. Bold initial impression of candied pineapple and peach rings. Mid-palate reveals subtle pear pastry notes and light, clean, bready malt. Hop flavor is dominant and complex. Firm bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. Finishes with a lingering, bright fruit-cup-juice quality and clean hop resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, soft texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Low astringency.
