This magnificent English Barley Wine undergoes nine months of maturation in fifteen-year-old V.S.O.P. Cognac barrels, transforming into a deeply layered sensory experience. A rich wave of dark dried fruit, warming alcohol, and luxurious caramelized malts greets the nose, underpinned by the sophisticated influence of the spirit. On the palate, the decadent sweetness of toffee and raisin is beautifully balanced by the soft wood tannins of the oak. It closes with a warming, complex finish of vinous dark grapes, vanilla, and gentle spirit notes, offering a velvety and remarkably smooth masterpiece of barrel-aged complexity.

Appearance. Deep copper to dark mahogany in color (18-22 SRM) with brilliant ruby highlights and noticeable viscosity forming prominent legs on the glass. It is topped by a thin, off-white to tan head with low to moderate retention.

Aroma. High-intensity aroma featuring rich caramel and toasty malt sweetness, tightly interwoven with heavy dark fruit esters of raisin, fig, and prune. Distinctive, elegant notes of V.S.O.P. Cognac, vanilla-scented oak, and fine warming brandy dominate, while English hop character is absent, leaving a clean, deeply complex, and vinous profile.

Taste. The initial impression is intensely rich and sweet, showcasing layered flavors of toffee, dark caramel, and toasted bread. Complex fruitiness of plum, raisin, and dark grape melds with the smooth, warming spirit characteristics of premium Cognac. Hop bitterness is low to moderate, serving to balance the substantial malt backbone rather than stand out. The finish is moderately sweet and lingering, with soft oak tannins, vanilla, and a complex, warming, vinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious, and coating texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A distinct and comforting alcohol warmth is highly apparent but exceptionally smooth, accompanied by a gentle, non-astringent dryness from the wood tannins.
