This Imperial Stout offers a complex sensory bridge between a decadent dessert beer and a refreshing cocktail. The foundation is built on deep roasted malt, delivering intense layers of espresso and dark chocolate typical of the style. The aromatics are dominated by a sharp, spicy ginger punch that lightens the heavy malt base. Upon the first sip, bright lime citrus and cooling mint provide a vibrant, summery contrast to the beer's substantial 10% ABV. Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs on the glass indicative of its high viscosity and alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with fresh, spicy ginger root and a dominant backdrop of dark roasted grains. Secondary notes of bittersweet chocolate and cold-brew coffee meld with a faint herbal mintiness and a touch of zesty lime citrus.
Taste. The initial palate is defined by a refreshing burst of lime and cooling mint, quickly transitioning into a robust malt core of cocoa and scorched earth. Hop bitterness is moderate, providing structure against a lingering ginger spice. The finish is long and warming, balancing roasted bitterness with a hint of botanical sweetness and dark fruit esters.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, and a significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout without being harsh or solventy.
