This high-gravity blend offers a decadent liquid tiramisu experience, merging a coffee-infused English Barleywine with a barrel-aged Imperial Stout. The influence of the rum cask is immediate, offering a spicy, brandy-like complexity that complements deep molasses and caramel malt tones. Thanks to the inclusion of oats and milk sugar, the texture is exceptionally velvety and rich. On the palate, layers of roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate, and fragrant vanilla unfold, supported by a significant, warming alcohol presence from its 14.2% ABV. It is a chewy, sophisticated dessert ale that gains aromatic complexity and depth as it warms in the glass.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to near-opaque dark brown with ruby highlights. A thin, creamy, tan head shows moderate retention, leaving thick, oily legs on the glass as it swirls.
Aroma. High intensity with complex layers of rich molasses and dark caramel joined by a spicy rum cask influence and notes of brandy. Distinctive aromas of freshly roasted coffee bean, sweet vanilla, and a hint of dark chocolate mix with subtle dark fruit esters and a noticeable, clean alcohol warmth.
Taste. Initial impressions of sweet caramel and biscuit malt are quickly overtaken by intense flavors of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla.
