Appearance. Pale gold to deep yellow (SRM 6-8). Large, creamy off-white head with good retention and light lacing. Generally clear, though a very slight haze from the wheat and fruit additions may be present.
Aroma. Moderate intensity. Prominent sweet vanilla and creamy lactose notes suggest custard. These are layered over a floral and citrus hop character, specifically grapefruit and lime from Cascade. Low grainy-sweet maltiness with a hint of tart, vegetal rhubarb in the background.
Taste. Initial impression of smooth vanilla and creamy sweetness. The mid-palate features moderate hop bitterness and citrus flavors. The finish is defined by the tart, refreshing acidity of British rhubarb, which cuts through the lactose. Malt is supportive and bready. Clean fermentation with a lingering, slightly tart and floral aftertaste.

You may ask where the custard comes in, well we use an unfermentable sugar lactose in the brewing process leaving the creamy sweetness. Then we’ve added 12kg of Madagascan Vanilla resulting in our stupidly delicious Rhubarb & Custard Pale!
