Blackout Brewing Triple Aurora

This Double IPA presents an intense sensory experience driven by a massive hop profile. Vibrant layers of Citra contribute bright lime and grapefruit, while Mosaic Cryo intensifies the berry and tropical depths. The experimental HBC586 adds a complex wave of mango and stone fruit. Despite its 9.7% strength, the beer remains remarkably drinkable with a lean, neutral malt backbone that allows the hops to dominate. It pours a deep gold with a persistent white head. The finish is crisp and dry, defined by a firm bitterness and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth that lingers with resinous hop oil and persistent tropical notes.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Persistent, creamy white head with fine lacing. Slight haze is present, characteristic of modern high-strength hopping, though still maintaining good clarity.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring heavy citrus, tropical mango, and forest berry notes. Citra and HBC586 provide dominant guava and lime zest, while Mosaic Cryo adds a resinous blueberry undertone. Low, neutral, crackery malt in the background. Clean fermentation with a hint of smooth, integrated ethanol.
Taste. High hop flavor mirroring the aromatic profile of tropical fruit, stone fruit, and citrus. Assertive hop bitterness is firm but lacks harshness. Very low, clean, bready malt support. The finish is quite dry with a long, lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste. A well-integrated, smooth alcohol character complements the hop intensity without becoming solventy.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Noticeable but restrained alcohol warmth provides a pleasant chest glow. No significant hop-derived astringency.
