Beavertown Lupuloid is an uncompromising American IPA that delivers a saturated hop profile against a lean, modern grain bill. Utilizing Extra Pale malt alongside wheat and flaked oats for a smooth, silkier texture, it serves as a canvas for the heavy-hitting trio of Citra, Mosaic, and Equinox hops. Expect a punchy sensory experience defined by layers of tropical mango, zesty grapefruit, and a distinct herbal-pine resin. The aromatic intensity is high, transitioning into a firm, assertive bitterness that remains clean and focused. A dry, crisp finish ensures high drinkability despite its potent 6.7% ABV, exemplifying a refined, hop-forward sensory balance.
Appearance. Medium gold (approx. 6-8 SRM) with a slight haze from the wheat and oat additions. Pours with a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with bright citrus zest and tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit) driven by the Citra and Mosaic hops. Secondary notes of lime peel and a touch of green bell pepper from Equinox add complexity. The malt presence is low and clean, showing subtle bready and grainy notes with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus flavors. A low, clean, cracker-like malt backbone provides support without adding sweetness. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, providing a sharp but clean counterpoint to the fruit. The finish is dry with a lingering hop resin and grapefruit peel aftertaste that invites another sip.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth and slightly creamy texture due to the addition of flaked oats. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a crisp bite. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present in the finish.
