Beak Strands #2 is a modern, juicy American Pale Ale that showcases a single lot of Idaho-7® hops. This vibrant beer leads with a punchy aroma of ripe pineapple and lush mango, followed by layers of pink grapefruit and stone fruit notes reminiscent of apricot. A subtle papaya sweetness is present on the mid-palate, eventually balanced by a resinous, grounding finish of pine sap. The soft malt base remains neutral and supportive, providing a clean canvas for the complex tropical and citrus hop oils to shine in this highly drinkable and aromatic expression.
Appearance. Pale golden (6 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Large, persistent white head with fine-textured lacing and excellent retention.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring distinct tropical notes of mango and pineapple, supported by stone fruit apricot and zesty pink grapefruit. A faint resinous pine sap undertone complements a very low, neutral grainy malt character.
Taste. Initial impression of juicy tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent Idaho-7 flavors of pineapple, mango, and papaya dominate the mid-palate. Bitterness is moderate, providing enough structure to balance the fruity esters without being harsh. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering note of citrus pith and pine.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp lift, while the finish is smooth with no perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
