Basqueland Makaveli
This West Coast IPA delivers a punchy, resinous profile true to its California inspiration. The sensory experience is lead by the citrus-forward brightness of Amarillo, offering notes of orange peel and floral zest, while Idaho 7 contributes layers of ripe pineapple and sticky pine. Columbus Cryo adds a foundational dankness and a sharp, clean bitterness that defines the style. Expect a pale gold, brilliant pour with a bone-dry finish that allows the hop oils to coat the palate without heavy malt interference. It is a vibrant, hop-forward expression with a crisp, refreshing snap and a lingering herbaceous aftertaste.
Appearance. Medium gold with brilliant clarity; topped by a persistent, fine-beaded white head that leaves intricate lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, orange zest, and tropical pineapple. A resinous, dank undertone provides depth, supported by a very low, clean, crackery malt presence. Fermentation is neutral with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial burst of citrus and stone fruit flavors followed quickly by a firm, resinous bitterness. The malt provides a light, grainy foundation with minimal sweetness. The finish is decisively dry and clean, leaving a lingering aftertaste of pine and grapefruit pith. No harshness in the bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp bite, with a very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
