Badlands Brewing Company Crash is a vibrant American IPA that masterfully showcases a trio of Southern Hemisphere hops: Riwaka, Superdelic, and Peacharine. The sensory experience is led by a potent collision of ripe peach and tangy passionfruit, accented by the sharp, zesty gooseberry notes typical of Riwaka. Superdelic adds layers of tropical complexity and red fruit undertones to the profile. This 6.5% ale balances its intense fruit character against a clean, lean malt backbone, allowing the intricate New Zealand hop oils to remain the focus. The finish is bright and hop-forward, providing a refreshing snap that cleanses the palate.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant medium gold (7 SRM) with a medium-sized, frothy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves decorative lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by tropical fruit and stone fruit notes. Distinctive gooseberry, passionfruit, and fuzzy peach are prominent. A low, clean, grainy malt sweetness supports the hops, alongside a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. The flavor is hop-forward with layers of peach, passionfruit, and citrus. A firm, medium-high bitterness provides structure without being harsh. The malt is low and clean with a light crackery quality. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. There is a very light, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated.
