Coffee Storm is a decadent Imperial Stout that pours with the intensity of a gathering gale. A robust foundation of dark roasted malts provides deep layers of espresso and baker’s chocolate. This base is elevated by a potent cold-brew coffee infusion, delivering a tornado of fresh-ground bean aromatics and earthy complexity. As the storm settles, a soothing ray of vanilla emerges, smoothing out the roast's edges with a creamy, sweet warmth. At 10% ABV, it offers a substantial presence where the charred malt bitterness is expertly countered by the luscious vanilla bean character, resulting in a rich, multi-layered experience that remains balanced despite its high-gravity intensity.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Topped with a thick, dense, persistent tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh cold-brew coffee and dark chocolate dominate. Supporting notes of roasted grain, burnt sugar, and a clear, sweet vanilla bean presence. Subtle dark fruit esters like plum and black cherry are present, while hop aroma is very low and earthy.
Taste. Initial impression is a bold surge of espresso and bitter unsweetened chocolate. The mid-palate introduces a creamy vanilla sweetness that rounds out the heavy roasted malt bitterness. Malt flavors of charred toast and molasses persist throughout. The finish is long and lingering, featuring a harmonious balance between roasted grain astringency and vanilla-driven sweetness. Bitterness is firm but well-integrated.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a velvety, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the richness. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth provides a comforting glow without being sharp or fusel.
