Ale 5.9 º 47 IBU
Anchor Liberty Ale stands as a historic benchmark for the American IPA, showcasing a refined balance that bridges tradition and modern craft. This coppery ale delivers an aromatic bouquet defined by bright floral notes and a signature citrus character, a direct result of its pioneer use of dry-hopping with whole hops. The sensory experience is anchored by a delicate malt backbone of toasted caramel, which provides a smooth contrast to the firm hop bitterness. With its naturally fine carbonation and crisp finish, it offers a timeless profile that emphasizes elegance over aggression, reflecting its San Francisco heritage and artisanal intent.
Appearance. Color is a deep copper to light reddish-amber (approx. 10–12 SRM). Features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and light lacing. Generally clear with brilliant clarity.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent hop character featuring citrus and floral notes. Low to moderate clean, grainy maltiness with light caramel and toasted accents. Very clean fermentation profile with minimal yeast esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with citrus and floral flavors. Low to medium-low clean maltiness provides a supportive base with light caramel and toasted grain notes. Medium-high bitterness that is firm but smooth. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, clean hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Moderate, natural carbonation provides a soft mouth-filling sensation. Very light, smooth alcohol warmth without harshness or astringency.

Anchor Liberty Ale

The champagne-like bubbles, distinctive hop bouquet, and balanced character of Liberty Ale® revive centuries-old ale brewing traditions that are now more relevant than ever. First introduced in 1975, Liberty Ale® is brewed strictly according to traditional craft brewing methods and uses only natural ingredients — pale malted barley, fresh whole-cone Cascade hops and special top-fermenting yeast, and water.

The yeast used during fermentation produces many of Liberty Ale's subtle flavours and characteristics. A natural process called "bunging" creates gentle carbonation, and the practice of dry hopping (adding fresh hops to the brew during ageing), revived by Anchor, creates its unique aroma.

Liberty Ale® was first brewed to celebrate the bicentennial of Paul Revere’s historic ride. As the first modern American IPA brewed after prohibition and the first modern American single-hop ale and dry-hopped ale, Anchor’s Liberty Ale® is the original craft-brewed ale and the historic beer that started a revolution
