A Soft Place To Fall is a modern, nuanced American IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile within a sessionable framework. Leading with the expressive character of Cashmere Lupomax and Eclipse hops, the beer offers a vibrant aromatic bouquet of mandarin orange, sweet melon, and zesty lime. The sensory experience is defined by these Pacific-region hops, providing a layered fruit complexity that ranges from stone fruit to bright citrus pith. A clean, lean malt backbone provides just enough support to ensure the high hop intensity remains balanced without becoming sharp, resulting in a soft, approachable finish that emphasizes hop aromatics over lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold with a slight, modern haze. Features a medium-sized, bright white head with excellent persistence and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of mandarin, sweet melon, and peach, accompanied by a subtle piney resin. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral foundation. Fermentation is very clean with no notable esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward, dominated by citrus zest and tropical fruit flavors. High hop bitterness is present but well-integrated, supported by a low, bready malt character. The mid-palate reveals layers of lime and orange citrus. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering, clean, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, almost soft texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle sparkle on the tongue. No alcohol warmth is perceived, and there is no harshness or astringency in the finish.
